Handwoven Scarves - Rayon Chenille
I just love rayon chenille. These handwoven beauties are thick & warm, wrapping you in luxury. Although I will make scarves longer or shorter on request (and also in the color range of your choice), my rayon chenille scarves range from 68-74" long - they're longer than I am tall! So you can wrap them around your neck several times, wrap it just once with long ends, do a keyhole wrap, or choose just about any other option.
To ensure that the fringe stays thick, I take the extra time to make an interesting double-twisted fringe. |

About Rayon Chenille
The name "chenille" comes from the French word meaning caterpillar, surely because of the fuzzy look of a single strand of this interesting fiber. When handwoven into a scarf, chenille retains its fuzziness but gains strength and stability.
Rayon is both as a natural fiber and manmade. How is this possible? Rayon is made from cellulose: natural plant fibers. The fibers are then chemically treated, extruded, and spun, introducing lots of manmade processes. Since its inception in the 1920's, rayon has undergone many developmental stages.
Rayon chenille is lustrous and drapes beautifully. Starting soft from the day you get it, your scarf will become even softer and more luxurious with wear. For best results, handwash your rayon chenille scarf and lay it flat to dry. |
