Handwoven Scarves - Rayon Boucle
Rayon boucle provides a versatile scarf. I've worn them indoors simply draped under my blazer's lapels, and outdoors in spring and fall when the weather's a bit nippy. They can dress up your plain navy work suit or add just the right touch on top of your favorite jeans & sweatshirt. My rayon boucle scarves are long enough to provide plenty of wrapping options while keeping an ability for a professional look. All are made from hand painted yarn created by fiber artists.
I finish my rayon boucle handwoven scarves with a simple end-knotted fringe to prevent unraveling. |

About Rayon Boucle
Another yarn named from the French (as is chenille), boucle is derived from a word meaning "to curl." But yet boucle yarn isn't what I would call curly. When you look at the fringe, you'll see that it's twisty - it looks like you had your hair in braids for a few days then took the braids out before washing it. When it's woven, this twisty-ness results in a nubbly texture.
Rayon is a combination of natural fiber (starting as a cellulose base) and manmade (lots of chemical and mechanical treatments).
The boucle I use for these scarves ensures that the scarves are lightweight and drape beautifully. I recommend hand washing and laying flat to dry. |
