Handwoven Scarves Organic Cotton Boucle Diamonds Each strand of boucle yarn has an uneven in dimensions, with thick parts interspersed along the shaft of the yarn. When it's woven, the resulting fabric is nubbly all over, providing an interesting texture. I added even more interest by weaving a diamond shape into each end of these scarves, providing visual as well as textural appeal. The scarf on the right was handwoven with boucle warp (kelp - sort of an olive green) and weft (biscotti - a nice beige). Since all the yarn is boucle, this scarf is a real treat for the fingers - I can't stop playing with it! The handwoven scarf on the left has the same kelp warp, although you'd never know it, either in the photo or in person, because I used a mocha organic cotton chenille as the warp. This mixture - the bumpiness of boucle married with the softness of chenille - gives you the best of both worlds. Both of these scarves are handmade from organic cotton, dyed with low-impact fiber-reactive dyes to maximize their environmentally friendly value. This handwoven organic cotton scarf is 8" wide and 66" long, plus 3" of fringe on each end (all measurements approximate). If you're cold you can wrap it around your neck or keyhole wrap it; simply wear it long and loose to make an eco-friendly fashion statement. Feel free to machine wash and dry your organic cotton scarf. |
